Apply for a Sponsored Phoenix Bear
Sponsored Phoenix Bears are made possible through the generosity of donors who help provide weighted comfort bears to bereaved parents experiencing financial hardship.
If you would like a Phoenix Bear but cannot afford one at this time, you may apply to receive a sponsored bear.
Submitting this application does not guarantee approval, but it is the first step in the process.
If approved, you will be added to the Sponsored Phoenix Bear Waitlist where you will wait for a sponsor for your bear. Once someone sponsors your bear (it goes in order of next on this waitlist) you will be moved to the regular Phoenix Bears waitlist to await your turn for your bear to be weighted and detailed.
Before You Apply
Please review the following information before submitting your application:
• Applications are currently only accepted from parents with a shipping address in the United States
• Applicants must be a bereaved parent who has lost a baby
• Applicants must not already have a weighted comfort bear representing this baby from Phoenix Bears or any other organization / or anyone else
• Applicants must be a member of the Phoenix Bears Facebook Support Group (if you aren’t a member, please go join now)
• Sponsorships depend on available donations, so wait times may vary
About the Waitlist
If your application is approved:
• You will be placed on the Sponsored Phoenix Bears Waitlist
• Families are served in the order they are approved
• When sponsorship funds become available for you, we will contact you by email
• You will have one week to respond and confirm you would like to proceed, and once you do, then you will be placed on the regular Phoenix Bears waitlist
If we do not hear back within one week, we will move to the next family on the Sponsored Phoenix Bears waitlist, and you will need to wait until additional funds become available.
About Sponsored Bears
Sponsored Phoenix Bears include:
• A weighted bear matching your baby’s weight
• A blanket attached with a magnetic snap (not recommended for children under age 3)
Sponsored bears do not include embroidery or angel wings.
Bear colors are selected based on current availability, though we will do our best to honor preferences if possible.
